Strategic Evaluation

The ETF’s strength is built on the expansion of the tourism sector, the increase of its memberships, and the progress that could be achieved in the economic operations of the tourism and travel enterprises. The areas of economic results represent the main source of existing resources.

The ETF’s strategy is to gain more members and extend its scope of membership through the inclusion of other sectors related to tourism business such as air transport business and hotel and tourism management corporations.

Weaknesses are being spotted and analyzed through the use of total quality concepts. Efforts have been made to overcome some existing factors of weakness through research studies carried out by national and international research bodies. The introduction of a new departmental structure for the ETF will lead new employment positions and extensive use of computer systems within the operation field and respective chambers of the ETF.

There are many opportunities for real expansion in the field of education and training. The start of the jointly funded Human Resource Development project has opened a new active field of work for establishing standard skills for hospitality and travel jobs. Therefore, establishing training programs are required in order to achieve these skills.

The existing real threats are how to put this vision into operation. There are many ideas for ways in which to tackle these threats such as making a reform in the organizational structure, building up a tourism standard skill institute, and establishing a joint promotion project. In effect, the ETF has established a SWOT and TOWS analysis in establishing an effective strategy.

Action Plan
The ETF is in the process of defining a number of integrated projects in the fields of education, training, promotion, investment development and structure reform.

Furthermore, the ETF is making some amendments for the tourism legislation. In the field of international cooperation with the same organization abroad, the ETF, with aid of the Ministry of Tourism, is making preparations to convene some international meetings.

Long Term Goals
  1. Expansion of the scope and structure framework of the ETF: The ETF expands the scope and structure framework to include other activities such as Airline Business, Investment corporations, and research institutional experts.
  2. Establishment an Education and Training Institute: The ETF cooperates with other bodies interested in tourism and hospitality education to establish an Egyptian educational and training institute which will put into effect the standard skills needed for the hospitality and tourism industry.
  3. The creation of a high quality data center: The ETF creates a high quality data center that offers general technical information to members and other sectors.
